Chalet Le Bouchat...
This authentic property, full of undeniable charm, sets the scene for an unforgettable holiday in the heart of the Aravis mountains.
Chalet Le Bouchat is part of a cluster of secluded chalets on the slopes of Mont de Vaunessin, just 1.5km from the centre of Manigod. The property is a farmhouse dating back to 1805, set in a clearing with majestic views of La Tournette. Some elements of the original timber frame were preserved during renovation, and the furnishings were carefully selected to create warm and comfortable rooms.
In summer, there are numerous hiking opportunities directly from the chalet, as well as all the activities offered by a lively resort. In winter, you can enjoy a renowned ski area connected to La Clusaz and the wider Aravis region.
About the property…
Chalet Le Bouchat is a two-storey chalet for up to 14 guests (max 12 adults). It offers five bedrooms and four bathrooms.
On the ground floor, guests will enjoy a charming living room furnished with character and warmed by a fireplace. There are comfortable sofas and a well-stocked library. French doors open onto a balcony and allow plenty of natural light to flood in. The dining room is separate and connects to a bright, well-equipped kitchen. The first bedroom is also on this level and has an en-suite bathroom with a walk-in shower and WC. There is also a separate WC.
The first floor is where you’ll find four more bedrooms. There are two double bedrooms, one twin bedroom, and a bunk room for six, with two sets of bunk beds and two single beds. One room has its own shower room with WC, while the others share a shower room and a bathroom with WCs.
On the practical side, Chalet Le Bouchat has a ski room, a laundry room with washing machine and tumble dryer, as well as four outdoor parking spaces.
About the area…
Manigod is a picturesque mountain village in the heart of the Aravis massif, just 6km from Thônes and about 27km from Annecy. Surrounded by lush alpine pastures and peaks such as La Tournette and L’Étale, it is an ideal base for exploring the region while enjoying an authentic, friendly atmosphere. This resort appeals to winter sports enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.
In winter, the Manigod ski area offers 25km of marked pistes spread across the Croix Fry and Col de Merdassier sectors. These are connected to La Clusaz and the vast Aravis ski area, providing even more skiing options, including freeride zones. Fans of winter sports can also enjoy cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, particularly on the Beauregard plateau and in the Balme massif.
During the rest of the year, hiking trails – especially those on the Beauregard plateau – offer spectacular views of the Aravis and routes suitable for all levels. The area also lends itself to mountain biking, climbing, and paragliding. The nearby Lake Annecy is the perfect place to enjoy swimming, paddleboarding, or kayaking, and a visit to Annecy’s old town is highly recommended.

From the owner
Tristan D.
We are very fond of the Manigod valley and the Aravis mountain range, and had been searching for an Alpine farm to renovate for several years when our path led us to Le Bouchat in 2019.
At the end of the beautiful Route des Murailles, overlooking the charming village of Manigod, Chalet Le Bouchat was built in 1805 in a clearing where sheep still graze every year. The view of La Tournette, which separates us from Lake Annecy, is a constant, calming spectacle.
This space of absolute tranquility on the edge of the Beauregard forest naturally guided the renovation of the farm, which was in ruins when we arrived. The rustic nature of the location encouraged us to maintain the same simplicity in the renovation – a project which gave us great pleasure over four years, paying the utmost respect to what already existed.
It was a true delight to work with skilled artisans from the Thônes and Saint-Jean-de-Sixt valleys. During the renovation, we paid careful attention to architectural principles and traditional methods, while carefully selecting wood species and materials sourced locally, just as our forebears had done.
Le Bouchat is a sensitive, simple, and authentic place where the proximity of Lake Annecy, the Aravis, and La Clusaz just a few minutes away makes it a wonderful retreat for family holidays.
